The Iconic Puzzle Game Couldn't Triumph at This Gaming Ceremony — An Additional Classification Could Fix That

As any prominent honors show nears, you'll find a clamor to include fresh award types to honor underappreciated efforts and satisfy the spirits of followers dedicated to specific genres.

Another commentator made the case supporting a scary games classification. It would be amazing. So would strategy board titles, this being a dedicated supporter's campaign. However, I must insist if I try to elbow in front since similar to dedicated enthusiasts, I have a cast-iron argument supporting my request is the most urgent and significant. Here's the proposal: We need a classification for brain-teasing titles.

Categorizing Game Types

Categorizing art by genre defies precise measurement; opinions vary greatly, and typically generate discussions and end in fuzzy definitions. This explains why film award organizations don’t do it. But it is a necessary evil in the world of video games, which are so diverse they hardly constitute as a single art form.

To recognize the complete range of achievement in video games to gain proper attention, and for games of all stripes to receive proper recognition, specific award classifications remain vital.

Current Gaming Award Categories

The major gaming awards currently feature award types recognizing Action-oriented games, Adventure-action titles, RPG experiences, Combat games, Sim/Strategy, and Sports/Racing games. Between them, these award types successfully include numerous genres, making space possible for most games within them.

Different situation exists for puzzle games. There’s simply nowhere for their placement. Consider three of recent excellent titles, showing diverse approaches: the architectural riddles from a specific release, intense tile-matching from another release, thought-provoking social scenarios of a third title. Where could they possibly go between these six categories? Unfortunately, nowhere.

Recognition Challenges

Numerous examples exist excellent brain-teasers launched regularly lacking appropriate categories during gaming ceremonies, except when they manage to fit award groups including Mobile Game, Virtual reality experiences, or the intensely contested independent game categories.

  • One classic puzzle game got overlooked in any category during that awards season
  • Another imaginative release was excluded during that ceremony
  • Well-received sorting experience was overlooked recently
  • Just some brain-teasers barely qualified for independent or mobile categories

Significance of Puzzle Games

Frequently they represent small games, however the design in brain-teasers is of massive significance. Iconic mobile puzzle games count as the most-played games globally and have been for over a decade.

The famous puzzle experience rivals well-known building titles for the title of most purchased experience; it also contends as greatest title ever. Brain-teasers form essential building blocks within interactive entertainment, and engaging with diverse game types.

Proposal and Rationale

Puzzle games wouldn’t have this problem. It would be easy to populate a field of five with fascinating, diverse, deserving games annually without trouble — actually, with challenge, because you’d have to leave numerous deserving experiences.

And to reiterate, these are games without proper classification in important events. Brain-teaser creators are working at the hard edge interactive creation, producing among most fundamental forms within interactive entertainment. Just like cinema stunt performers, they deserve recognition. Don't make them wait generations.
